The Writing Skills Improvement Program was established over 25 years ago in order to assist historically underrepresented students to improve their writing skills and achieve academic success at the University of Arizona. As time passed, WSIP expanded its services to serve the academic community at large by offering a series of Weekly Writing Workshops and Summer Institutes for Writing. We offer a number of services to our target population, as well as to any student who desires to improve his/her writing skills on a space-available basis.

The Writing Skills Improvement Program has carefully selected a staff of competent and committed instructional specialists/professional tutors. These staff members work one-on-one with those students who are eligible for individual tutoring (and/or have been referred by a professor) and who want to make a sincere effort to improve their writing skills.

The tutoring session is the heart of our program. The Writing Skills Improvement Program provides participating students with intensive help outside the classroom, help their professors simply do not have time to provide on a one-to-one basis.
