| The Association for Women Faculty is a campus organization composed of University of Arizona women faculty, academic professionals, postdoctoral and graduate students. The organization has monitored the status of women at the University of Arizona since its inception in 1982. The Association for Women Faculty at the University of Arizona works to achieve a campus climate which fosters the careers of women faculty and academic professionals via the following goals:
AWF Goals
- Recruit and retain women at the University of Arizona
- Prepare and support women for university leadership
- Promote a hospitable and equitable climate for women
- Mentor women graduate students for outstanding careers
|
AWF has struggled to increase equality among female and male faculty members through our work in numerous areas such as pay equity and child-care/parenting policies. The association provides a network for women faculty and professionals, and has acted as a mentoring organization for new women faculty. Through a range of programs and publications, we have encouraged an awareness on campus of many issues faced by women faculty and professionals as well as offering concrete solutions for dealing with these issues.
We sponsor several events every semester that all women faculty and professionals are welcome to attend. The Commission on the Status of Women is a complementary campus organization.
